Tom Sachs

Tom Sachs is an American contemporary artist who creates extremely intricate faux replicas of various real-world objects out of materials that can be found from a local hardware store. Some of the things he’s created include a 1:25 recreation of Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation made entirely out of foam core, and a 1:1 model of the Apollo lunar module, a mission control with 29 closed-circuit video monitors, and outfitted two female astronauts with handmade Tyvek space suits.

He has also created a number of highly creative and inspiring short films on his process and other pieces of artwork and exhibitions.

Loft Vibes

Loft  /lôft,läft/

; a type of room or dwelling

; a room or space directly under the roof of a house or other building, which may be used for accommodations or storage

; a loft apartment referred to large adaptable open space, often converted for residential use from some other use, often light industrial

Lofts are currently seen as luxury homes, as they are located in central areas of the city. However, their origins are based on creatives converting industrial spaces, mainly located on the outskirts of the city, that were abandoned and reusing them.

Now, they are perceived very differently than when they began gaining popularity in the 1950s New York. Their appeal is related to height and space with no visual barriers, allowing natural light to travel freely.
