Johnny Abrahams
Johnny Abrahams is an American artist originally from Tacoma Washington and is currently living and working in London. At first glance his paintings may seem “simple”, “generic” or “repetitious”, the usual thought of a non artist saying “oh I could make that or my kid could have painted that”, but there is just something about the way he applies the paint wether its with perfect, smooth and shiny strokes of paint on a primed and refined surface to a thick textural application of heavy body paint on burlap, I find that there is a lot of nuance and intrigue in each piece that he creates.

Bordeaux’s WWII Submarine Base
The watersheds of Bordeaux’s 78-year-old submarine base are set for transformation into immersive art galleries, as the WWII bunker re-opens as the Les Bassins de Lumières centre for digital art.
The structure was first operational between 1941 and 1943, used by the Germans to house U-boats. The converted bunker has already hosted temporary shows and concerts, but now four of its sheds will become permanent exhibition spaces.
Following the building’s adaptive reuse, pieces will be projected across its vast stretches of water and concrete – with each watershed measuring 100 metres long, 22 metres wide and 12 metres high.

F2A Architecture creates mirrored addition
This house is located in Naramata, a community in southern British Colombia which was originally built in 2003 and the owners asked Maurer, architect from F2A Architecture, to design a small addition to hold a multipurpose space and private art gallery in 2018. It was especially tricky as the architect never planned for the home to be expanded, therefore posing challenges based on the site.
The room for growth was small, as this home sits at the edge of a rocky slope that overlooks the Okanagan Lake. In the end, Maurer decided to tuck the new addition into the rocky slope and create a low-profile rectangular box building that did not obstruct the view from the main home.
Feature details are a portion of the west and east walls were glazed. Then on the south elevation, the team used stainless steel panels with a mirror finish.
“Reflecting sky and forest, it seems to float above the bedrock, fitting its grassland context gently”, the team mentioned.
