“Design is One” is a 2012 documentary that showcases the Italian design power couple Lella + Massimo Vignelli. Both were design powerhouses in their own right, impacting many design fields including architecture, interior design, graphic design, furniture design, product design, showroom design, jewellery and fashion. Their unique design solutions can still be seen in use all around the world to this day.

Kelly Wearstler

 

Kelly Wearstler, founder and principal of Kelly Wearstler Interior Design, is an American designer who built her reputation in California starting out in the hotel industry. Her over-the-top designs have been noted for their influence on the design industry, as she internationally changed the look of boutique hotels. Kelly has now created a multi-faceted brand, including experiential residential, hospitality, commercial and retail environments, as well as expansive collections of lifestyle product designs. Her luxury signature brand incorporates her own line of furniture, lighting, décor, jewelry, wallpapers, textiles, tiles and stones. Wearstler has been internationally recognized by numerous publications receiving various distinct design awards.

Geoffrey Bawa and Tropical Modernism

 

The Sri Lankan Architect Geoffrey Bawa is now regarded as having been one of the most important and influential Asian architects of the 20th century. Bawa came to architecture late, only qualifying at the age of thirty-eight in 1957, but he soon established himself as Sri Lanka’s most prolific and inventive architect, establishing a whole canon of prototypes for buildings in a post-independence context. His oeuvre includes hotels, houses, schools and universities, factories, offices, numerous public buildings as well as the new Sri Lankan Parliament.

 

Projects.

Geoffrey Bawa's works are mainly located in Sri Lanka, but included several other countries as well: in India, Indonesia,  Mauritius, Japan, Fiji, and Singapore. His works include houses, hotels, schools, clubs, offices and government buildings as well as the Sri Lankan Parliament Building. His work remains deeply influential in the region.
